Ulpe Italian Handcrafted Timber Statues and Figurines

The Ulpe Wood Art company was founded by the artist, Ulrich Perathoner, who himself is descended from a wood sculpting family from the Val Gardena region in Bolzano Italy. It was in this beuatiful and rugged mountain landscape that this precious wood craft developed in the mid-17th century. Traditionally, sculptors passed on their artistic experience to other sculptors who further developed the method and technique and worked out new themes such as sacral motifs. Ulrich Perathoner is one of these sculptors and he has worked successfully as master sculptor since 1972. Ulrich started his career at the School of Arts in Ortisei and then honed his artistic skills and knowledge at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. His personal aspirations to hone his artistic skills helped him to establish an internationally leading wood sculpting business. Ulrich Perathoner's son Daniel Perathoner has also been working in the business since 2003 and is now running it in its second generation with his wife Elisa. He undertook studies in wood sculpting before attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, from where he graduated with outstanding artistic achievement as a student of the master class.
