Catechism of the Catholic Church Revised Second Edition
The Catechism of the Catholic Church is an essential reference for every Catholic and should be readily accessible in every Catholic home. Why? It serves several important functions: (a) It conveys the essential and fundamental content of Catholic faith and morals in a complete and summary way. Pope St. John Paul II said this about this catechism: "In reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church we can perceive the wonderful unity of the mystery of God." The Catechism of the Catholic Church is divided into four major parts. They are referred to as the "four pillars" on which the Catechism is built. In his Apostolic Constitution promulgating the Catechism, Pope John Paul II called them the "four movements of a great symphony." They are: 1) the Creed - what the Church believes; 2) the Sacraments - what the Church celebrates; 3) the Commandments - what the Church lives, and; 4) the Our Father - what the Church prays. The Catechism consists of 2,865 paragraphs, each of which is numbered. There is an internal cross-referencing system among the paragraphs which makes it simple to find all the passages in the Catechism which treat a particular subject. In addition, the Catechism provides several indices for ease in locating particular passages. Indices are organized according to themes, Scriptural citations, symbols of the faith, documents of ecumenical councils, documents of other councils and synods, pontifical documents, ecclesiastical documents, canon law, liturgical texts and ecclesiastical authors. The Catechism of the Catholic Church originated with a recommendation made at the Extraordinary Synod of Bishops in 1985. In 1986 Pope John Paul II appointed a Commission of Cardinals and Bishops to develop a compendium of Catholic doctrine. In 1989 the Commission sent the text to all the Bishops of the world for consultation. In 1990 the Commission examined and evaluated over 24,000 amendments suggested by the world's bishops. The final draft is considerably different from the one that was circulated in 1989. In 1991 the Commission prepared the text for the Holy Father's official approval. On June 25, 1992 Pope John Paul II officially approved the definitive version of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Understanding the Icon: In Andre Rublev's icon, the form that most clearly represents the idea of the consubstantiality of the Trinity's three hypostases is a circle. It is the foundation of the composition. At the same time, the angels are not inserted into the circle, but create it instead, thus our eyes can't stop at any of the three figures and rather dwell inside this limited space. The impactful center of the composition is the cup with the calf's head. It hints at the crucifixion sacrifice and serves as the reminder of the Eucharist (the left and the right angels' figures make a silhouette that resembles a cup). Around the cup, which is placed on the table, the silent dialogue of gestures takes place. The left angel symbolises God the Father. He blesses the cup, yet his hand is painted in a distance, as if he passes the cup to the central angel. The central angel represents Jesus Christ, who in turn blesses the cup as well and accepts it with a bow as if saying "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will". (Mt 26:39) The nature of each of the three hypostases is revealed through their symbolic attributes, i.e. the house, the tree, and the mountain. The starting point of the divine administration is the creative Will of God, therefore Rublev places the Abraham's house above the corresponding angel's head. The Oak of Mamre can be interpreted as the tree of life and it serves as a reminder of the Jesus's death on the cross and his subsequent resurrection, which opened the way to eternal life. The Oak is located in the centre, above the angel who symbolises Jesus. Finally, the mountain is a symbol of the spiritual ascent, which mankind accomplishes with the help of the Holy Spirit. The unity of the Trinity's three hypostases expresses unity and love between all things: "That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me." (John 17:21) The wings of two angels, the Father and the Son, interlap. The blue colour of the Son's robe symbolizes divinity, the brown colour represents earth, his humanity, and the gold speaks of kingship of God. The wings of the Holy Spirit do not touch the Son's wings, they are imperceptibly divided by the Son's spear. The blue colour of the Holy Spirit's robe symbolises divinity, the green colour represents new life. The poses and the inclinations of the Holy Spirit and the Son's heads demonstrate their submission to the Father, yet their placement on the thrones at the same level symbolises equality.

Scapular – Green with leaflet
The Green Scapular is often used to ask God for a physical healing or spiritual conversion through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin. While it can be beneficial for the person themselves to pray for healing or conversion, God also looks favorably upon the prayers of friends or family members. Ten years after the manifestation of the Miraculous Medal to Sister Catherine Laboure in 1830, the Blessed Mother entrusted the Green Scapular of the Immaculate Heart to Sister Justine Bisqueyburu, likewise a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. The Green Scapular consists of a single green string attached at both ends to a green cloth with a picture of the Blessed Virgin Mary on one side and a picture of Her Immaculate Heart on the other side. The words around Her Immaculate Heart read: "Immaculate Heart of Mary pray for us now and at the hour of our death." There is no official “enrollment” in the scapular, but the cloth can be blessed by a priest. It is reported that Our Lady said to Sister Justine, “The greatest graces come from using the scapular but these graces come in direct proportion to the degree of confidence in me which the user has.” It may be placed in the clothing, on the bed, or simply in the room of the one for whom it is intended.
