This King was the son of Mary, chosen by God, of Joseph, the carpenter, a just and faithful man. Jesus grew in age, wisdom, and grace, and was mankind's greatest leader. He was a fisherman of men and souls and had 12 disciples to whom he preached the truth. But, in a day of hatred, envy and death, he was crucified and his blood was shed to purify us. To be eligible for the scapular promise, one must be enrolled in the Brown Scapular, a simple ceremony which can be performed by any Catholic priest.
